Spring is here, and the hotness of summer is getting closer. We can feel it in the air and in the music. This time we travel to south america, where Copia Doble Systema find their inspiration. Copia Doble Systema is a unique Copenhagen act, mixing Cumbia and electronic music. They have been a hype in the blogosphere for quite some time, getting their music played by major DJs from around the world. Their first EP "Cumbia Colegiala" is now ready for release, featuring a diverse selection of remixes.

Thykier part of Junkyard Productions and percussion especialista fuse Cumbia and Samba to a sweaty dancefloor tune. Chico Mann part of the world famous Antibalas afro beat collective bring his signature latin old school electro vibes into an futuristic out of date version. And last but not least, we have the international Maga Bo creating a effect-full cumbia dancefloor bomb.

After a very successful 2009 UrbanWorld Record's is starting 2010 with our 4th release, Savages y Suefo made a great remix of Unkle Ho on the very first UrbanWorld release, and we instantly invited them back. Sweet Relish takes the sound of UrbanWorld more eastwards, fusing the sounds of Indian bellydancing with modern club vibes. Vono Box really pushes the breaks and beats in a jungalistic kind of way, while Mash & Munkee extracts the essence of funky bellydance. As a special extra Santoor Salami is a beautiful ethnic ambient track, showing the broad spectrum of styles this duo works with.

The two dj/producer Savages and Suefo come from the same eclectic music scene in Budapest. They have previously been producing remixes for !DelaDap, [dunkelbunt], Danilo Venturi, Sanagi, DJ Foundation, and are currently busy working on remixes for DJ Lengua, Max Pashm, Pluto Project and [re:jazz].

UrbanWorld Record's two first releases have been on the top sales charts on both SoulSedection and Juno Downloads almost from day one. Unkle Ho and Analogik have made us belive in the project, and we knew that we had a hard time finding a worthy third release.

A long time friend of ours, Al Lindrum, now resident in Barcelona and known from Alberta In Love and The Beat Nation teamed up with DJ WellBecome from the legendary Polka parties in Denmark to form a very special colaboration "Al Lindrum & His Magic Hat". With DJ WellBecome's magic and Al's production skills the duo produced two tracks for us. It is a heavy roller not to be stopped, with heavy bass, jazz and balkan vibes right for the dance-floor. We invited the Spanish producer Makala and our own Unkle Ho to do the remixes. All in all we think this is a very spicy Paella indeed. An a worthy third release.

Sometimes you don't realise there is a new style of music around till it has already been here for some time. Over the last few years there has been a definite new genre developing, based on mashing up beats, swing, jazz, balkan, latin and other global musical influences, with a really cheeky edge. Check Makala, DJ Kormac, Toy Selectah, Palov and Mishkin, Nicodemus, Up Bustle and Out, Ahilea, Sola Rosa etc etc. It's coming together strongly and if ever one record label typified the genre then it's Urban World. So far every release from Urban World has been top of the box stuff and this is no exception. It just needs a name. Art-funk? Burlesque-beat? Quirk-core? Who knows but I'm increasingly playing nothing else in my sets. Absolutely love it. Keep up the good work.
