Hi, here Kosta Kostov, a DJ/producer and part of the UWR crew, based in Cologne (Germany). I would like to present in"Mixtape me!" regulary some new and good or not new, but excellent mixtapes digged on the net...

Starting with our good friend in Rio de Janeiro Wolfram Lange, who knows a lot about the music of the Americas.  Sambista and DJ, living in the carioca town since 2004, he is doing great work on his blog SoundGoods presenting less known sounds collected on his travels between Mexico and Argentina with an emphasis on Brazilian music since the 60s until today.  Recently he droped this banging mixtape dedicated to the heavier electro housy hybrid of Funk Carioca Funk - the Eletro Funk. LoveAvalanche Remix: Winner Announcement

I have to say that i am so amazed which how many producers who took up the challenge of making a remix for us. We received 31 remixes doing the 4 weeks. And a lot of different vibes, from funk and reggae to cumbia and drum'n'bass.

In the end I had the difficult job of choosing remixes for the EP. I want it to be diverse and exiting. This track appeal alot to a dubstep remix, and for this reason the main majority of remixes was dubstep like, and because they were all very very good I had to cut several really quality remixes from the final selection in order not to have an dubstep only EP.

So the selection for the EP is as follows:
1 - Acetone Studio Remix (A roots dub inspired remix)
2 - Triplets Tricks Remix (Dubstep / breaks remix with a hypnotic flute)
3 - DJ Trece Remix (Drum'n'Bass raw power)
4 - David Miret Latinmoombah Remix (Moombahton remix with a fresh approch to the vocals)
5 - Andres Digital Cumbia Remix (Fast cumbia riddim with lots of love)
6 - Bigote Remix (Fresh 8-bit cumbia-dub)
7 - Paul Demarau Remix (Atmosheric Ambient Dub)

And now for the Winner of the winners, the remix which is going to be featured on our Global Bass Vol 3. Vinyl!!

Drum roll..... The winning mix had to be very close to the sound of UrbanWorld to match the other tracks going on the compilation, and therefor we have choosen

LoveAvalanche - More Love, Less Corruption (BIGOTE REMIX) to be included on our Global Bass Vol. 3 Vinyl.

Introducing: Silver Bullit

Silver Bullit is three guys from Copenhagen (Mads Michelsen, Kristoffer Sjelberg and Daniel Plon), who is composing and producing music inspired from Black American, African and Caribbean genres. They are recreating these styles with a new sound - their driving force being the beat and grooves. Being two drummers and a rhythm guitarist, they have a strong background as jam-session players, so when the three of them decided to unite of their forces, the goal was clear: everything is gonna be funky from now on. Silver Bullit seeks out special and talented singers and MCs to match their funky groove, covering genres like soca, merenque, afrobeat, kwaito, funk, funk and more funk.

UrbanWorld is proud to present the first EP with Silver Bullit. The title track, 'Koloko', with King Ayisoba on the vocal is a an afrobeat inspired track with a very powerfull vocal. First remix is a strong powerful kuduru-like remix by no other than The Very Best featuring additional vocals by African Boy. For the second remix, straight for the clubs, UrbanWorld's own Thykier fuses African and 3ball rhythms in a strong club ready remix. The second track, 'Me Gusto', is a a latin funk tune featuring Carlos Perez on the vocal and a beat with serious dance floor potential. It is backed up by a super funky remix by DJ Panko, who is well-known as part of the Spanish group, Ojos De Brujo. Rounding up the EP is 'The Meter' - a soca and dancehall inspired track with vocals by Fantabis and Shaka Loveless, and remixed by Barcelona up-comers, Superpendejos.

Silver Bullit are no strangers to producing music. Mads Michelsen has recorded a countless number of songs and toured with numerous Danish artists like Gnags, Thomas Helmig, Camille Jones, Bliglad and Nobody Beats the Beats among others. Kristoffer Sjelberg aka Stunn Gunn has worked with Bikstok Røgsystem, Camille Jones and Malk de Koijn among others . He also produced tracks for Million Dan, Anthony B & Jah Mason, and will be touring as a drummer for the new Danish hip hop phenomenon 'Kidd ' this summer. Daniel Plon is a member of the Danish successful reggae group, BliGlad. He also toured with Jokeren and Kuku Agami and recorded with Karen Mukupa and Natasja.

Together, the three of them have recorded more than 2500 tracks for different artists.

UrbanWorld meets United Global Beats in Barcelona

In the last few weeks, artists from UrbanWorld were invited to play at Barcelona’s finest global bass party, United Global Beats, at Sala Apolo. United Global Beats is run by the DJs Mata Hari (Barcelona) and Ion Din Anina (Sevilla) who both work and travel a lot. Ion Din Anina spends most of his time touring through Europe, spreading his energetic and powerful DJ sets. Mata Hari is also co-owner of Post World Industries, alongside Filastine. Both together run this monthly night at one of Barcelona’s hottest spots. Some time ago, Los Chicos Altos presented their new EP “Se Va Mamba” at the United Global Beats party. Check out the video!

Last week, Mata Hari and Ion Din Anina invited special guest DJ Farrapo from Italy. He played an energetic mix of samba-influenced rhythms and Drum and Bass. Before his set, all the crew was hanging out in Al Lindrum’s studio. We shot some pictures that give a feel of the night.

UWR* Artist's Remix Round-Up March

Hi all, this is Maxey from Los Chicos Altos. It’s my first blog post for UrbanWorld and this time, it’s my pleasure to present you the remix roundup for this month. As usual, UrbanWorld artists are pretty creative and productive. Let’s start with Kosta Kostov and his new track peaches and oats, a colorful party tune with lively drums and nice vocals.

He also made a video that can be described best with one word: fun!

Next, let’s go over to San Sebastian in Spain, where DJ Makala is producing some great music. One of his last tunes is a remix for a band coming out of the Movimientos – crew in London. The band is called Wara, and Makala made a wonderful remix of their song “Pretty Cliché”

Let’s stay in the south and head over to Italy. Farrapo always does great tunes and his last one is just that. He made a Remix for a new producer coming out of Indianapolis, his name K.Sabroso. The track is called “Cruz Control” and out on Danny Massure’s Spring Strut Records. Farrapo’ s remix starts with heavy percussion, quickly turns into a dope latin piano hook and then completely goes wild with a heavy dose of vocal samples and FX. Quality as usual.

Now, let’s go back up north, more exactly to Copenhagen. It’s not only the home of the label UWR but also of many talented and creative producers. One of them is Dixone. His newest Remix is for our friends of La Chusma in Berlin. On this one, Dixone is dancing with the dolphins, a bubbling 3ball-ish track.

Last but not least, Copia Doble are like TNT this spring. They came up with a little mixtape called "Primavera Cumbias" that showed some of the tunes they’ ll drop in 2012. One of the tracks was the Fisketorvet Riddim (Soom T Dub) that is available for free. Copia Doble describe it as “Cumbia Eurodance Slow Rave”. True Soundboy Killas!

Introducing: Los Chicos Altos

Los Chicos Altos are not your average Latin-American chicos-really!We found these guys residing in Barcelona, they were easy to spot because their height makes them stand out from regular Catalans.Additionally, since Maxey Blaze is a white German and T-Bird is a black dude from California, they were even more noticeable. Together with with their amazing singer, Claudia Naranjo Pantoja they form the Los Chicos Altos.

Their first EP on UrbanWorld was released back in August 2011, entitled Pa'lante. The EP was cover version of the Afro-Peruvian singer Nicomedes Santa Cruz and made quite a breakthough for the Los Chicos Altos.



Now they are ready with their second EP featuring covers of songs that Claudia knew from her childhood back in Peru. The EP contains three original tunes: Se Va Mamba, Señora Santana and Jose Antonio feat. Thykier. And a pack of really quality remixes by Azaxx, IdanK and The Movement of Rythm, Stereo 77 and Andy Taylor. Se Va Mamba is released on the 16th of March.

They have also release tracks on Spring Strut Records, LowUp Records, Post World Industries and Liquid Brilliants.
