"Once you realize we all are Superpendejos life is so much easier"
The Superpendejos universe is full of colors, sonic landscapes, deep emotion, love, and awareness activism, it’s a way of life that creates a unique style of music. Made with love, spiced up with bass for maximum dancing pleasure add to that a tropical twist and some bouncing beats and you have it.
Superpendejos takes digital cumbia into new territories adding a deephouse feeling to the phychedelic sounds of cumbia. The title track Ya Sta Qi says it all, deep, psychedelic cumbia sounds with a heavy bass and a nice selection of horns on top. La Princesa De La Cumbia is slower and even deeper than the title track, you can really get lost in the groove. There is a little bit of marenque over the rythmh in the last original SP Arilines (Fasten your Seatbelts) but still groovy and deep with an hypnotic feeling.
Remixing these tracks had to be special so we tired to find remixers who could take them into new territories. Fort Knox Five is adding their signature funk to La Princesa De La Cumbia. And from deep within in the Pamana jungle Professor Angel Sound made a moombahton remix. However Dixone have made the most standout remix of all, fusing cumbia and minimal techno to a new sound of global techno which we are sure will be a hit, just listen to the build-up on this one.
Dont just take my word for it. Read this review on Remezcla, the latin american culture blog of the USA, or this review on Nu Cumbia Experience, this on Cassette blog or this on Soundnomaden or hear what they say in Budapest on the Ghetto Bazaar blog, or just listen to these words of wisdom from the DJ feedback.
"it reminds me of walking through the Mission in San Francisco at 24th Street, listening to live cumbia on my way for fresh tacos. It always puts a swing in my stride. Great work!"
"Only listened to the first track so far and very impressed! …love the cumbia reggae vibe. Not too downbeat. Steady tempo for a dancefloor. Love this dancehall vocal with the club riddims. Genre-bending! We like!!! The cumbia spin is strong but doesn't dominate this track. Very smooth. I can see this track going down a storm on any dancefloor. Are you pressing vinyl???"
"You can strictly feel the streetmusician in that tunes!"
"The core of Cumbia works extremely well as a platform for further international explorations in the original mixes. Tango flavors in Ya Sta Qi, elements of Dub in La Princesa de la Cumbia, and Arabic steez in SP Airlines. Superpendejos turned Cumbia from a genre into a passport."
